The Orange Crush started life out as your standard Spridget Tub. At the genesis of the Spec Sprite class, The Crush was one of the first 4 Spec Sprites built by the Auto Tech students Alief Elsik High School. It was campaigned by the late CVAR alumni David Turner, from its outfitting as a Spec Sprite in 1994.

In the early 2000s, Turner had to hang up the helmet for a few years as he dealt with health battles. In the later 2010s, he picked back up the Crush, and campaigned her till his final retirement in 2018, after taking the 2018 Spec Sprite championship.

After Turners retirement, another David elected to become the keeper of the Crush. CVAR’s Chief Stewart, David Hopkins purchased The Crush from Turner, and continues to campaign the Crush in Group 4 today.
