It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing our dear friend and fellow racer Joe Foster
on June 6, 2021. Joe was 67 a retired mechanic living in Round Rock with his wife Carla. Joe
worked for Alfa of Austin for years and turned his occupation into his hobby. Originally Joe was
the Crew Chief for Carla and later started racing his 1972 Alfa Romeo Spider in Group 2 and
then Group 7 with the Alfas of Austin gang including among others Howard Phillips and
Sherman Hart.

There will be a Celebration of Life Sunday June 13, 2021 at his sister’s house in Austin. Joe was
the consummate CVAR racer always working on his car to make it better, but once the racing
was over he sure could party. He had just completed a frame off restoration of his Spider in
anticipation of the Small Bore Feature Race at ECR.
